Shifttok Drama? Good or Bad Rebrand

Over the past few weeks, Shifttok has had it’s ups-and-downs with drama. From shocking revelations of people shifting for minors to controversies that nobody is seeming to give context of. Between those and still trying to maintain the happy-go-fun-ism of shifting itself, the Shifttok community has been slowly transitioning into what we call…a circus.

This by any means doesn’t mean that the community is necessarily going downhill, or even uphill. It just means that we’re going back to the toxic ways that existed in 2020. But could something good be coming out of this chaos?

This drama has brought new people into our little space, people that we’ve missed, but also dealing us with some losses of creators that are taking an indefinite break from the community. Could this mean a rebrand for shifttok? But instead of something new, the community could be reverting to it’s early TikTok days? Is this good or bad? Well, it could very well be both.

Regardless, shifttok needs a cleanse—whether that may be acknowledging toxic behaviors and working to fix them, or bringing in more fun and less drama (and not the fun in the ways of overbearing motivational content). How we do this, though, is the question we should be asking. And with the disorganization we see now, I don’t think we’ll have answers anytime soon.

But don’t have any fear. Just because there’s drama in the community doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy shifting! Remember, shifting is not dependent on the community, but rather dependent on yourself and your journey. If you feel like you need a break from shifttok, please take a break! It’d do well to get away from the drama.
